creativity pouring from every pore...

I have some badass friends. They have qualities and talents that are so unique and amazing and I feel blessed to be able to surround myself with such awesome individuals. There are a few of them that express these talents with jewelry, clothing, photography and art and have websites that feature and sell their respective artistic creations. I would like to take a moment to share with you some of their stuff....if you click on each of their names it will link to their websites........enjoy

Carla Taylor, I've mentioned numerous times on the blog before, makes FAR OUT jewelry. She is amazing in so many ways I can't even list them here. Witchy soul sister for life.

Ali Barone is such a talented individual. She is fashionable, musically inclined, hilarous and so fucking badass. She makes garments and she is dear to my heart.

Maureen Elliott is such a sassy ray of sunshine. She is a jewelry maker, fashion/vintage junkie and all around genuine badass chick. She just recently started up her company and i know that she is going to do amazing things with it! I can't wait to see how much it grows in this coming year.

And last but not least, Elyse Weatherup is one of the most talented, artistic people I know. She definitely does not give herself enough credit when it comes to her art but I think that she makes the most beautiful things. I have a giant piece in my living room that was a birthday gift in 2010 and it makes me smile every day.

I have many other talented friends, and I appreciate each of them so very much. Hopefully you can appreciate these ladies as much as I do.

Happy Monday everyone.

up up and away we go

Life can sneak up on you sometimes, and it literally feels like a rollercoaster. Everything is up, up, up, up just getting better and better, higher and higher and just when you think you’re about to touch the clouds, it all falls out from under you and the cart you are riding in jerks down and you plummet towards the earth, stomach sinking, screaming your head off with the rush of the wind in your face. Things seem like they all just rain down at once, a shit storm washing away all the great things that seemed to be working in your life. With the good usually comes the bad, and it can be overwhelming at times. Disappointment, heartache, and sorrow among other things, come in many shapes and sizes. Within two weeks I had a broken garbage disposal and washing machine, an overflowing toilet, an ant infestation in my kitchen, a cat that decided to pee on 3 loads of clean laundry the day my washer took a dump, a broken cell phone, a flat bike tire, I had to say goodbye to a friend who moved away, witnessed my kindred going through some really shitty times and had multiple issues with a misbehaving 3rd grader, among other things. This is what my dear friend Carla fondly refers to as LIFE TILT. When it rains, it pours. But it’s during these times that you need to remind yourself that no matter how shitty life seems, no matter what falls apart in your hands and despite all the roads traveled only to reach what seems like a dead end, there is still beauty and love and magic in the world. It’s everywhere , we just have to remember to see it. Regardless of how hopeless you may become, or how much you go through, just open your eyes and remember, if there are things this fucking beautiful that happen every day just naturally, then there has to be hope that things will somehow get better for each of us. Try and find the beauty and joy in small things around you, that we sometimes take for granted. A bike tire, some dirty clothes, these aren't the end of the world. You fix what you can, and just let be things you can't control. At least I can still go out and lay in the sun, appreciate the awesome shapes clouds can become, and watch the colors in a sunset. I just have to remind myself to take a deep breath and float above it all. Like the sun through the trees on a cloudy day………

"It's the idea that people living closer to nature tend to be noble. It's seeing all those sunsets that does it. You can't watch a sunset then go set fire to your neighbor's tepee. Living close to nature is wonderful to your mental health."
